You are purchasing a 2" Slip X 2" Heater Union with Gasket. This union accepts a 2" pipe or fitting on one end measuring approximately 2 3/8" Outside Diameter, and threads onto a 2" Heater Flange Split Nut on the opposite end measuring approximately 3" on the thread exterior. It glues to a 2" Pipe or Slip fitting and threads to a 2" Heater Flange connection. This is the most popular configuration. The 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 ranks second in popularity, while the 1 1/2" X 2 version ranks third. For reference, we also carry Heater unions in 1 1/2" Slip X 1 1/2" to Heater and 1 1/2" Slip X 2" Heater configurations. This component is designed for hot tub applications to connect plumbing to a heater flange on a 2" Heater Tube. If both your plumbing and heater are 2", this is the correct part for your installation.
