Reference this chart showing exterior pipe dimensions to help determine the correct size components for your order. Important: Nominal pipe sizes don't reflect the actual opening diameter—they indicate the Inside Diameter of pipe that would insert into that fitting, which can be confusing since you measure the exterior of existing pipes. We provide outside diameter measurements for easier identification. For instance, a fitting for ½" plumbing actually has a ¾" interior opening and accepts pipe with ¾" exterior diameter.
