Surface Mount Auto-Reset High Limit Switch - Single Pole Single Throw Thermal Safety Device (No Capillary Tube Design)
This automatic reset hi-limit thermodisc attaches directly to the heater surface where it monitors actual water temperature flowing through the heating assembly. The internal bi-metallic disc trips at 121°F, reversing its shape to open the electrical circuit and typically shutting down the entire spa system. Certain control boards may continue operating circulation pumps while disabling only the heating element until the safety device resets. Note that continued pump operation and motor heat can sometimes raise water temperature to unsafe levels even with the heater disabled. As water cools below the trip point, the metal disc returns to its original shape, automatically closing the circuit and allowing heater operation to resume. This cycle repeats until the underlying issue is resolved. Unlike manual reset versions, this model resets automatically without user intervention.
Troubleshooting Guide: This is a normally-closed switch design. Test for failure if the circuit remains open at any temperature, fails to close when cold, trips before reaching 121°F, or won't automatically reset after cooling below 121°F. Any of these conditions indicates a defective unit requiring replacement.
