This combination temperature and high limit sensor assembly is engineered for standard Balboa 4-pin control systems (excluding M-7 configurations). The set features curly finger-style connector ends for secure board connection.
Cable Specifications: Temperature probe extends 96 inches with 3/8-inch diameter housing, while the hi-limit probe measures 31 inches with 1/4-inch diameter construction. Each sensor utilizes 2-wire configuration.
Typical Installation: The temperature probe installs into a thermowell mounted through your spa shell, monitoring water temperature. The hi-limit probe attaches directly to your heater tube or body. In less common setups, both probes may mount to the heating element using thermowells or pinch plates (non-M7 systems only).
Alternative Balboa Configurations: Other sensor options include 2-pin temperature probes paired with threaded M-7 style sensors, or complete dual M-7 sensor arrangements. Cal Spa utilizes specialized M-7 sensors with zip-tie mounting and felt-tipped ends.
Service Advisory: When extracting temperature probes from shell-mounted thermowells, anticipate water discharge. Ensure proper service qualifications before beginning work.
Troubleshooting Guidance: These sensor assemblies rarely fail. SN error codes may indicate wire damage from rodents or loose board connections rather than sensor failure. OH error codes can result from closed pressure switches, stuck relays, heater flow restrictions, or other system issues. Proper diagnosis is essential—used electrical components are non-returnable.
