This complete 5 HP Waterway Executive wet end assembly for 48 Frame spa pumps includes all essential components: volute, impeller, seal, face plate, wear ring, and mounting screws. Designed with 2" X 2" plumbing connections for reliable performance.
Identifying Your 48 Frame Configuration:
The 48 Frame features motor through-bolt spacing of 3 5/8" between bolts or 5 3/16" measured in an X pattern. Compare this to 56 Frame pumps which measure 4 1/8" between bolts or 5 3/4" in an X pattern.
Correct Horsepower Identification - Critical Information:
This wet end is designed for pumps drawing approximately 16.0 Amps at 230V. Note that 5 HP spa pumps are not available in 115V configurations.
How to Verify Your Pump's True Horsepower:
Locate the amperage rating on your motor label. For dual-speed models, you'll see two values (example: 10.0/3.5) - use the higher number. For single-speed motors, one amperage value is shown.
Amperage to Horsepower Reference Guide:
- 8.0 Amps = 1 HP
- 10.0 Amps = 2 HP
- 12.0 Amps = 3 HP
- 14.0 Amps = 4 HP
- 16.0 Amps = 5 HP
Important: Always match by amperage rather than the horsepower printed on your motor. Horsepower ratings are frequently overstated by manufacturers, but amperage ratings are accurate and reliable.
Why Amperage Matters:
Consider the electrical reality: Two actual 5 HP pumps at 16 amps each draw 32 amps combined. Add a 5.5 KW heater at 21 amps, and your total draw reaches 53 amps - exceeding most 50 amp hot tub breakers. This proves that most pumps labeled as 5+ HP are actually lower horsepower units.
