Description
This complete Waterway Executive 2 HP 48 Frame wet end assembly features 2 1/2" X 2" plumbing connections and includes all necessary components: screws, volute, impeller, seal, face, and wear ring. Understanding frame sizing is critical - 48 Frame units feature motor thru bolt spacing of 3 5/8" between centers or 5 3/16" measured in an X pattern, while 56 Frame models measure 4 1/8" between or 5 3/4" in X pattern configuration. This wet end is designed for pumps operating at approximately 10.0 Amps at 230V or 16.0 Amps at 115V.
Important: The front suction side fitting on this wet end measures approximately 3 5/8" edge to edge, larger than standard 2" pump unions which measure about 3" edge to edge. Verify your existing wet end has this oversized suction fitting before purchasing.
To identify the correct horsepower, check your motor label for amperage ratings. On dual-speed pumps, you'll see two values like 10.0/3.5 - the higher number (10.0 in this example) indicates high-speed amperage. Reference guide: 8.0 amps = 1 HP, 10.0 amps = 2 HP, 12.0 amps = 3 HP, 14.0 amps = 4 HP, 16.0 amps = 5 HP. Always rely on amperage specifications rather than horsepower claims printed on motors, as amperage provides accurate electrical draw information. Many spa owners are mistakenly told they have 5 HP pumps - however, the math reveals the truth: two 5 HP pumps at 16 amps each equal 32 amps, plus a 5.5 KW heater adds 21 amps, totaling 53 amps. Most hot tubs operate on 50 amp breakers, making true 5+ HP configurations impossible. Amperage never lies.
