Description
This is a complete Waterway Executive 56 Frame 3 HP wet end assembly measuring 2 1/2" X 2" including all necessary components: Volute, Impeller, Seal, Face, Wear Ring, Barb Bleeder, Silicon, and mounting Screws.
The included Barb Bleeder takes the place of one standard plug and enables reconnection of your existing 3/8" bleeder hose from your prior pump installation.
To identify whether you need a 48 or 56 Frame wet end, measure the motor thru bolt spacing. 48 Frame units measure 3 5/8" between bolts or 5 3/16" in an X Pattern, while 56 Frame units measure 4 1/8" between bolts or 5 3/4" in an X Pattern. This wet end is designed for pumps operating at approximately 12.0 Amps at 230V. All 3HP configurations require 230V operation.
Important: Standard 2" pump unions measure approximately 3" edge to edge. This wet end features an oversized suction side fitting measuring approximately 3 5/8" edge to edge. Verify your existing wet end has this larger suction fitting before purchasing.
To determine proper horsepower, check the motor label amperage (not the HP rating). For dual-speed pumps, you'll see two values like 10.0/3.5 - use the higher number. Single-speed motors show one value. Reference guide: 8.0A = 1HP, 10.0A = 2HP, 12.0A = 3HP, 14.0A = 4HP, 16.0A = 5HP. Always rely on amperage rather than stated horsepower, as HP ratings are frequently overstated. Consider this: Two actual 5HP pumps at 16A each equal 32 amps, plus a 5.5KW heater adds 21 amps, totaling 53 amps - which exceeds most 50 amp spa breakers. The amperage specification provides accurate motor sizing.
