Description
This complete Waterway Executive wet end assembly is designed for 4 HP spa pumps with 56 frame motors and 2" x 2" plumbing connections. The comprehensive kit includes volute, impeller, seal, face plate, wear ring, mounting screws, silicone sealant, and a bleeder barb fitting.
The integrated bleeder barb replaces a standard plug and allows reconnection of your existing 3/8" bleeder line from your previous pump installation.
Frame size identification is critical: 56 frame motors feature through-bolt spacing of 4 1/8" center-to-center or 5 3/4" measured diagonally in an X pattern. This differs from 48 frame units which measure 3 5/8" between bolts or 5 3/16" diagonally.
This wet end pairs with motors drawing approximately 14.0 amps at 230 volts. Note that 4 HP spa pumps are not available in 115 volt configurations.
To verify proper horsepower rating, always reference the amperage listed on your motor nameplate rather than the stated HP. For dual-speed motors, you'll see two amperage values (example: 10.0/3.5). Use the higher number. Amperage-to-HP reference: 8.0A = 1HP, 10.0A = 2HP, 12.0A = 3HP, 14.0A = 4HP, 16.0A = 5HP.
Motor amperage ratings are accurate and reliable, while horsepower claims are frequently inflated. Consider this: two 5HP pumps at 16 amps each draw 32 amps combined. Add a 5.5KW heater at 21 amps for a total of 53 amps—exceeding most 50 amp hot tub breakers. This confirms that many systems marketed as 5HP or higher actually operate at lower horsepower levels.
