Description
Complete 4 HP 48 Frame Waterway Executive Wet End Assembly featuring 2 1/2" x 2" configuration with integrated bleeder barb kit. This comprehensive package includes all necessary components: screws, volute, impeller, seal, face plate, wear ring, bleeder barb, and silicone gasket material. The bleeder barb conveniently replaces one factory plug, allowing direct reconnection of your existing 3/8" bleeder hose from your previous pump installation.
Frame size identification: 48 Frame motors feature thru bolt spacing of 3 5/8" center-to-center or 5 3/16" measured in an X pattern. In comparison, 56 Frame units measure 4 1/8" between bolts or 5 3/4" in X pattern configuration. This wet end matches pumps drawing approximately 14.0 amps at 230V operation. No 4 HP variants are available in 115V configurations.
Important Sizing Note: Standard 2" pump unions measure approximately 3" across, however this executive wet end features an oversized suction inlet measuring 3 5/8" edge to edge. Verify your current wet end has this larger suction fitting before ordering.
Determining proper horsepower by amperage: Locate the amp rating on your motor nameplate. For dual-speed models, you'll see two values like 10.0/3.5 - use the higher number. Single-speed motors show one value. Amperage guide: 8.0 amps = 1 HP, 10.0 amps = 2 HP, 12.0 amps = 3 HP, 14.0 amps = 4 HP, 16.0 amps = 5 HP. Always reference amperage rather than the horsepower printed on the motor, as HP ratings are frequently overstated by manufacturers. The electrical draw never lies - for perspective, two actual 5 HP pumps at 16 amps each plus a 5.5 KW heater at 21 amps would total 53 amps, exceeding typical 50 amp spa breakers. This confirms most installations utilize lower actual horsepower than advertised.
