This comprehensive 5 HP 48 Frame Waterway Executive Wet End Assembly features 2 1/2" x 2" ports and includes everything needed for installation: volute, impeller, seal plate, wear ring, face seal, mounting screws, silicone gasket, plus a bleeder barb fitting. The bleeder barb replaces a standard plug and reconnects to your existing 3/8" bleeder hose from your original pump configuration.
Important Suction Port Specification: Unlike standard 2" unions measuring approximately 3" across, this executive wet end features an oversized suction inlet measuring roughly 3 5/8" edge to edge. Verify your current wet end has this larger suction connection before purchasing.
Frame sizing reference: 48 Frame motors have through-bolt spacing of 3 5/8" center-to-center or 5 3/16" measured diagonally in an X pattern. Compare this to 56 Frame spacing of 4 1/8" between bolts or 5 3/4" diagonal measurement.
This wet end pairs with motors drawing approximately 16.0 Amps at 230V operation. All authentic 5HP spa pumps require 230V power; no 115V versions exist at this horsepower rating.
Determining Correct Horsepower: Locate the amperage rating on your motor label. For dual-speed models, you'll see two values like 10.0/3.5 - use the higher number. Single-speed motors display one value. Amperage-to-HP reference: 8.0A = 1HP | 10.0A = 2HP | 12.0A = 3HP | 14.0A = 4HP | 16.0A = 5HP. Always rely on amperage rather than printed horsepower ratings, as manufacturers often overstate HP specifications. The electrical draw never lies. Consider this: Two genuine 5HP pumps (32A combined) plus a 5.5KW heater (21A) would require 53 total amps - exceeding most 50A spa breakers. If your electrical capacity is 50A, you likely have lower HP pumps than originally advertised.
